Easy Homemade Hot Chocolate + DIY Gift Idea

Cozy up with a cup of this homemade hot chocolate, courtesy of our friends at Honeysuckle. The simple recipe is free of the artificial flavors or colors that can be found in your typical store-bought version, but just as to whip up. The best part is that it also doubles as a last-minute gift idea, perfect for friends, teachers and coworkers.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Makes 1 cup

Ingredients

1 tablespoon semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon cocoa powder (unsweetened)

1 tablespoon powdered sugar (more or less, to taste)

Pinch of salt

Hot water

Hot steamed milk

Optional

Marshmallows

Sprinkles

Instructions

1. Add dry ingredients to a mug. Pour in hot water and stir until chocolate is melted down.
2. Top with steamed milk and stir.
3. Add marshmallows, sprinkles or any other festive toppings.

Honest Tip: For an easy holiday present, add dry ingredients to a piping bag (or plastic bag) and secure with a ribbon. Place inside a reusable mug and gift!
