Meet West Coast Regional Sales Manager Queenie Reyes Hilfer

What do you love most about working at Honest?

I really admire the social goodness component that is built into the company's DNA. It's not just an afterthought, but a way of life here. It's refreshing to work at a mission-based company that gives back so much and makes it as easy as possible to get involved. I also truly enjoy strategizing with our retail partners. I work with buyers and sell-in our products, support their business with demos and trainings, and develop promotions that resonate with Honest customers. It's rewarding doing work that makes our non-toxic products accessible in the retail space and getting them into the hands of more families so they have safer alternatives. Lastly, I really love how much everyone utilizes the communal kitchen in the office. Because this is our home away from home, it's so nice to have a place that feels like the heart of the office where everyone is constantly snacking, cooking for a lunch pact, or taking a moment to have lunch together.

What is your favorite product?

It's tough to choose, but I'm a big fan of our wipes and Immunity Defense. I pretty much use our wipes for everything! I use them to take my makeup off at the end of the day, wipe down my bathroom sink, and even to clean my dog's paws. I also pop our Immunity Defense left and right when trying to keep a cold at bay. I made all my girlfriends take it to keep from getting sick on a trip we took where it ended up being chilly and rainy all weekend.

What is your most memorable Honest moment?

I have to say it's probably when Honest donated nearly 25,000 products to the Philippines relief efforts a mere days after the devastation of Super-typhoon Haiyan. My husband Daniel and I visited the Philippines in 2012 and, being Filipino-American, it meant a lot to me that Honest was able to contribute so much and without hesitation.

On a lighter note, a close second is when one of our execs nonchalantly ate a spicy Thai chili pepper at a sales team dinner. I felt like I could almost see smoke coming out of his ears, and he had to down a glass of milk to help combat the heat! It was an unexpected and humorous ending to a long first day at a trade show.

How do you embrace the Honest lifestyle at home?

The more I learn, the more I change my purchasing habits. Even before I started working here, I was a monthly subscriber and converted our household to all the Honest bath & body and cleaning items. I enjoy frequenting local farmers' markets and shop organic in regards to EWG's Dirty Dozen Plus. I'm constantly reading labels now and I'm much more conscious about shopping for non-GMO products. I try to only stock our fridge with real food vs. "food-like products" that are heavily processed and contain a laundry list of ingredients I can't even begin to decipher. In terms of skin care products, I basically tossed out all my old facial cleansers and moisturizers and I opt for raw organic coconut oil these days. I think the next step for me is gradually switching to all-natural cosmetics.

If you weren't at work, what would you be doing?

Ideally, I'd love to be traveling. I've always worked really hard and saved up to go see the world and so far my travel bug has taken me to 17 countries. I have fond memories of backpacking around Europe in my early 20s, paragliding in Turkey, being off the grid on safari in Africa, and island-hopping in Southeast Asia. I feel like there's so much to explore, and I'm excited to visit Greece in a few weeks for our 3-year anniversary. When I'm not exploring, I'm most content writing, hiking around LA with the hubs, or catching up with family and friends over a meal.
