Help Us Pass the California Cleaning Product Right to Know Act!

It’s been a few months since we shared details of our Honest advocacy efforts. Lobbying for policies that will pave the way for safer, cleaner products is one key way that we work to empower people to live healthy and happy lives.

Recently, we had the honor of hosting California Senator Ricardo Lara here at our headquarters to thank him personally for his leadership in the state legislature. As author of the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act (SB 258), Senator Lara agrees that you have the right to know what’s inside the products you’re using in your homes and around your families every day. We are so proud to be working closely with him to raise the standards for transparency across the cleaning product industry.

Honest has been a vocal supporter of his bill since it was introduced earlier this year. We are looking forward to returning to Sacramento this week and next with a coalition of environmental health advocates and like-minded businesses to meet with lawmakers to make the case for the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act before a final vote in the California Assembly in September.

For our readers who live in California, YOU can help us get this bill across the finish line by contacting your CA Assemblymembers and urging them to VOTE YES on SB 258. Feel free to write your own message or copy and paste from below. And thank you for helping us get this important legislation passed here in California so it can become a model for the nation!

Dear Assemblymember _______:

I am writing to ask you to vote for the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act (SB 258).  I was surprised to learn that there are currently no laws requiring that ingredients be labeled on cleaning products. California can be a leader for the nation by establishing common sense labeling standards, so all of us know know what’s inside the products we use in our homes and around our families. Transparency is good for consumers and it’s good for business. I urge you to vote YES on SB 258.
