Honest to Goodness: Getting a Head Start with State Bags

On a mission to do “back to school” better by giving children their best and healthiest start, we’re excited to announce our partnership with State Bags on an Honest Kid’s Backpack. This limited edition collaboration is a durable backpack, designed to withstand daily adventures — plus, for every bag sold, we’re hand-delivering one to a young child in need.

We think that every child should have access to safe and healthy choices, so we’re working with Head Start programs across the country to help prepare preschoolers for kindergarten. When you purchase an Honest + State backpack, we’ll give one (full of essentials!) to a child under 6 in Head Start, to ensure that they are prepared to go off to kindergarten with safe and stylish products.

To celebrate this new initiative, we hosted an official Kindergarten Readiness Event for 500 families in the Los Angeles Area. The carnival was complete with hands-on games and activities, a reading station with free books, and a farmers’ market full of organic fruits and veggies.

Founder Jessica Alba got in on the fun and helped pass out 1,000 Honest + State backpacks, each filled with Honest goodies and school supplies from our friends at Yoobi. We also had 40 Honest volunteers on deck, along with volunteers from Child Care Resource Center, to keep the excitement and enthusiasm going all day. It’s pretty safe to say that we all had a blast.

We'll be giving bags across the country, with Head Start children in Texas, New York, and New Jersey all receiving backpacks and essential healthy supplies for their first days of school next week. Armed with all the healthy essentials they need, we're excited to hear more from these kids and the great start they have to their school year.
