Q+A with Tika Bharadwaj

We sat down with the Fashionista and Honest Mama Tika Bharadwaj @tikabobika. Here's a sneak peak into her Honest baby faves and parenting hacks!

What’s one Honest product you won’t leave the house without?

Tika: I love the plant-based wipes because they are simple in ingredients, so easy to use, and the packaging is so cute!

What would you tell yourself as a new moment?

Tika: I would tell myself to be patient and stop overthinking things. As a new mom, it’s so easy to compare your baby with other babies. However, I have learned that most of the time, they figure it out and while it may take some longer than others, it all works out.

What is your favorite parenting hack?

Tika: If you’re starting to sleep train, I highly suggest taking an hour drive somewhere. When I first started driving my baby down to San Diego (an hour from where I live) to visit the grandparents, he would have these crying fits. The first time I freaked out and immediately took the first exit to see what was going on. After realizing it was just him crying and wanting attention, I had to suck it up and just keep driving—otherwise I would never make it. I soon discovered his crying fit would last only 20 minutes and after he would just kind of sit there in a happy daze or just fall asleep. It really helped with sleep training because I got comfortable knowing what his crying threshold was. Now, at 11 months, I just put him down in his crib and he puts himself to sleep by himself.

What advice do you have for first time parents?

Tika: I highly recommend buying the very basics and not oversplurging on all the technology and gadgets out there. Babies are so different and some don’t take to the gadgets or some don’t even need them! I suggest waiting on splurging or renting on something like the snoo, or a fancy bassinet. See how your baby’s sleep is and then decide if something more expensive is necessary

What does sustainability mean to you?

Tika: For me, it’s minimum ingredients, clean materials, and exceptional results. I love that Honest uses ingredients and products that really think about the baby’s well being. I want my son to have as little exposure to chemicals and unnecessary ingredients as possible.

What’s your morning ritual?

Tika: Kai usually wakes us up around 6AM, a time frame I never imagined would be my norm. I immediately get him to his Size 3 orange slices Honest Diapers. We then cuddle for 30-40 minutes before starting our day (our favorite part). After, I’ll feed Kai breakfast, which is usually cereal mixed with fruit and peanut butter. We then change his clothes, and Dad takes him to daycare around 7:30-8!
