honest hippo facts

Facts courtesy of World Wildlife Fund
The hippopotamus, also known as the "river horse," is being threatened by both habitat loss and by poachers who hunt the species for their ivory canine teeth. Hippos have their eyes and ears on top of their heads so that they can watch for enemies — mainly crocodiles — while lying low in the water.
Hippos weigh up to 8,000 pounds and are the second heaviest land animals on earth (second in size only to elephants!) For protection from the sun, Hippo skin secretes a red-colored natural sunscreen substance. (This self-production is probably due to the fact that Honest sunscreen has not yet made it to Africa.)
